"βBut Abraham said, βSon, remember that you, in your lifetime, received your good things, and Lazarus, in the same way, bad things. But here he is now comforted, and you are in anguish." (Luke 16:25)
Eternal Reversal
This is a vivid depiction of life after death. The rich man was not punished for being rich, but for being indifferent to the suffering at his gate.
Death leveled the playing field, and God's judgment reversed it. The rich man begged for a drop of water, but a "great chasm" was fixed. It was too late.
Key Lesson: Your choices in this life determine your destiny in the next. Compassion and repentance must happen now.
