"βAgain, the Kingdom of Heaven is like treasure hidden in the field, which a man found, and hid. In his joy, he goes and sells all that he has, and buys that field." (Matthew 13:44)
Joyful Sacrifice
Notice the emotion: "in his joy". It wasn't a sacrifice to give up his possessions; it was a smart exchange. He traded what was temporary for what was immensely valuable.
The Kingdom of God is not a burden to be borne, but a treasure to be possessed. The cost of discipleship is high (everything), but the gain is infinitely higher.
Key Lesson: The Kingdom of God is hidden to many, but for those who find it, no sacrifice is too great to obtain it.
