"He answered, ‘Lord, leave it alone this year also, until I dig around it and fertilize it. If it bears fruit, fine; but if not, after that, you can cut it down.’ ”" (Luke 13:8-9)
Patience and Judgment
The owner expected fruit (repentance and good works). Finding none year after year, he decided to cut it down. But the gardener intercedes, offering grace and extra care.
This shows God's patience towards Israel and us. He gives us time and resources to repent. But His patience has a limit; if there is still no fruit, judgment will eventually come.
Key Lesson: God is patient and gives us second chances, but we must not presume upon His grace. True faith produces fruit.
