The Greatest Commandments

Matthew 22:37-40
The Greatest Commandments - Matthew 22:37-40 | Bible Hunger

"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?"

Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." (Matthew 22:36-40)

The Heart of the Law

In a complex religious system with hundreds of rules, Jesus simplified everything into relationships. If we truly love God with our entire being, we will naturally obey Him. If we truly love our neighbor as ourselves, we will never harm, cheat, or envy them.

Key Lesson: Love is not just a feeling; it is the fulfillment of the law. Every other rule is just a detailed way of explaining how to love God and people.
